Michigan

The Wolverine States capital is located in Lansing, and the state has a land area of 96,810 square miles. Michigan's highest point is Mt. Avron at 1,979 feet and its lowest point is Lake Erie at 572 feet. One of the East North Central states of the U.S. Most of its boundaries are formed by four of the Great Lakes - Superior, Huron, Erie, and Michigan. The name of the state is taken from that of Lake Michigan, the name of which is derived from an Algonquian Indian term meaning "big water." Michigan is called the Wolverine State and the Great Lake State.
