RSN Editors' Review
Sunday River stretches more than three miles wide from east to west, with skiable terrain for all abilities spread across eight interconnected mountains. The River has plenty of room for more expansion as well with 7000 acres of undeveloped terrain adjacent to the resort.
Each of the resort's eight mountains offers a distinct experience, from the steeps and bumps of White Cap to the tree skiing of Oz to the cruising on Jordan Bowl. Few if any resorts in the northeastern USA can match Sunday River's diversity.
While Sunday River is located in the small, residential town of Newry, the local scene focuses on nearby Bethel, a traditional New England village with numerous inns, shops and restaurants.
Sunday River is located 6 miles north of Bethel, Maine, off Route 2 in the town of Newry (near the New Hampshire border).
From the south, take I-95 north to the Maine Turnpike to Exit 11 (Gray), then Route 26 north through Bethel to Sunday River. The resort is 75 miles from Portland and 180 miles from Boston. Driving time is about 3 hours from Boston, and 3.5 hours from Montreal, Canada.
