Closed-cell foam insulation around the boot area traps heat and can be used with strap-on crampons or step-in models. Dense Poron foam in the insole prevents cold from passing through the sole of your boot. An instep strap inside the gaiter holds your heel down for a snug fit and allows the Brooks Ranger to function as a bootie in camp.
