Berthoud Pass Ski Area offers some of the most extreme ski and snowboard terrain in Colorado.
Located just 50 miles west of Denver, the ski area sits on top of Berthoud Pass and is divided into two separate mountains that are divided by U.S. Highway 40. Both mountains offer beginner through expert level terrain and are serviced by lifts and four backcountry pick-up points where shuttle buses transport skiers and riders back to the lifts.
Berthoud Pass offers 65 designated trails on 1,000 acres of skiable terrain. It is Colorado's oldest ski area, opening in 1937. It is also the home of the first double chairlift in the world, installed in 1947.
Since powder is the product and every year Berthoud is blessed with more than 500" of it, the ski area introduces "Adventure Pass Pricing." For the first time in the Colorado resort history, skiers and snowboarders will pay for a lift ticket based on the amount of fresh powder on the mountain. If there is 4" or more of new snow, a lift ticket costs $34. If no new snow has fallen overnight, the next day costs $32 and the third day is only $30 if there is still no new snow. It remains at this price until the mountain receives at least 4" of powder again.
Winter Park and Fraser are only 10 and 14 miles to the north of Berthoud Pass Ski Area. Both towns provide several activities including restaurants, night life, health clubs, a movie theatre and shopping. Silver Creek Golf and Ski Ranch is located just 29 miles north of the ski area and contains top-to-bottom terrain park under the lights. Silver Creek offers night skiing Thursday through Saturday and holidays.
