Once a little known ski area geared to the needs, and budgets, of locals, The Canyons has been transformed into a major destination ski resort. The "Old Mountain", as the locals refer to the terrain that has been around since the resort's early days, is a combination of wicked fall lines and expansive open areas. Some of the runs face to the east resulting in a lack of snow in the late season but generous natural snowfall keeps the resort open till early May.
Among the newer terrain, 9990 is the peak for experts. This mountain has everything: bowls, chutes, trees, and bumps - you name it. Backcountry terrain is also accessible from the summit.
