With 96% snow making and an average 10 feet of natural snowfall each season, Loon is usually open by mid-November and can continue operation into May. The resorts offer a popular no quibble lift ticket replacement if you're unhappy about your skiing experience at Loon before. If so, you'll be in the minority as this is the most popular destination for New Hampshire's own residents. Out of state residents arrive mainly from the south, as Loon is one of the easiest resorts to reach from Boston, two hours drive away.

The resort's 8 lifts serve a 2,100 foot vertical which contains a variety of terrain suitable for all abilities. There is an unusual four-seater gondola, as well as a high speed quad and two triple chairs. Two thirds of the runs here are suited to intermediate cruisers, with a fifth of the terrain immaculately groomed on gentle slopes for beginners. There are 35km of cross country trails through the National Forest.
